Pipe Routes

This Tech Tip explains how to define a pipe route, and view the route in plan view.

Defining the Pipe Route

Water Mode, Graphical Menu > Define Pipe Route



The program will prompt the following.

Click on the first node to start defining your route.



As you define your route, the nodes and links will be highlighted. Once you have defined your route, right click and select Accept , if you are happy with the defined route. There are also other options available (Right Click).



You can remove points from the selection, or even clear, so you can start again with your defining.



When you click Accept, you will be prompted for a route name. By default the name will me the start and end node of the selection. You can give the route any name. You can also define as many pipe routes as you want in your network.

Viewing the Pipe Route

Once the route has been defined there are various options available to determine how the route is shown in plan view.

Settings Menu > Display Settings



You can display the chainages for the route based on 3 options.



The 3 options are, to Never show the pipe route, when the pipe is selected (When Active) or Always show the pipe route.



If you right click in the Text box, you can add custom text to the pipe route.



We select to show the coordinates of the bends and nodes.



Coordinates and chainages are shown.

Deleting the Pipe Route

Settings Menu > Pipe Route Settings



The Pipe Route Settings dialog will open, showing the water pipe routes defined in your project. If you want to delete a specific route, click to select it, and click the Delete button.

If you click on the Auto Label Settings button, you have additional options for the way the route is labeled



Alignment points, to change the template used, right click in the template area.



Specify a template to use for labeling. Accepts following keywords or their combination:
    ROUTE# Route number.

    PI# Point number.

    R#-PI# Route number followed by point number.

    PIHV# Label horizontal and vertical alignment points separately.

    PRIHV# Same as above, but prefixed by route number.




Automatically label pipes along all routes, select to enable auto labeling. To change the template used, right click in the template area.

R#-P# Route number followed by pipe number.
