TRH4 Pavements

This Tech Tip explains how to use the built-in TRH4 pavements when creating a road template.

Opening the TRH4 Pavement Designer

Roads Mode

Tools Menu Template Editor



Click on the Layers button.



The Data Setup dialog appears



Right click in any of the cells in the Layer Description column



A menu will appear, select TRH 4 Pavements.

The Pavement Layer Designer dialog will appear.



In the following dialog the appearance of the large buttons is dependent on the preceding selections. Some combinations of selections have no layer definitions, some have only one (in which case the left button will be visible) and some have two (in which case both buttons will be visible).



 Pavement type  Select the type of pavement.
  Climatic region  Select the climatic region. Only applicable to Granular base pavements.
  Road category  Select the road category.
  Traffic class  Select the required traffic class.
  Calculate class Button  Click this button to display the Cumulative E80 Calculator dialog.
  Left Button  Click this button to select that layer definition which will update the template accordingly.
  Right Button  Click this button to select that layer definition which will update the template accordingly.


If the Calculate class button is clicked the Cumulative E80 Calculator dialog will appear, allowing you to calculate the traffic class based on various user defined values.



Adding the pavement to the Road

In this example we are going to add the pavement on the left hand side to our template. Click on the Left Button to add the layers.



The layers are automatically added to the template.
