The position of the skew cross sections are shown below. By default Civil Designer extracts cross sections perpendicular to the road centerline at the coordination interval specified in the horizontal alignment.
Inserting the skew cross section
Tools Menu › Index › Graphical Insertion
You have the option to manually enter the skew angle, but we will use the option to graphically indicate the angle.
Click OK to continue.
The program will prompt :
Graphically indicate the position on the Design centre window to the left of the centre line where the cross section line must run through.
Because we have cad lines representing where the skew cross sections need to be inserted, we snap to the ends of the lines. So move the cursor need the end of the line and then press J on the keyboard, and then enter, or set your cursor to be in graball mode.
The program will prompt:
Graphically indicate the position on the Design centre window to the Right of the centre line where the cross section line must run through.
Once the positions have been indicated the program shows the cross section that will be inserted (the angle is automatically calculated). Click Yes to add the cross section to the road index.
Once the cross section has been added, additional cross section can be added if required.
To add additional cross sections click Yes, and follow the same procedure as listed above.
Once all the cross section have been added, click No.
The cross section will automatically be coordinated and added.
