2008 Project Excellence Awards |

The Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) and the South African Association of Consulting Engineers (SAACE) have extended an invitation to local, provincial and government/semi-government authorities and their engineering consultants to submit entries for the 2008 Biennial Project Excellence Awards Competition by 31 July 2008. The awards will be presented on Thursday 30 October 2008 at the 72nd IMESA Conference in Bloemfontein. Click here for more information.

Congratulations to Alex Erens (B Eng) of PD Naidoo & Associates Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd who won the 8GB iPod Nano in the Civil Designer Water and Sewer Networks Competition.
The competition was open to participants of the recent Pipe Networks and Hydraulic Analysis course hosted at the University of Stellenbosch.

Manipulating Water Entities
Civil Designer's Water Module allows Water entities to be selected and manipulated as a group entity.
Groups can be used for example to separate quantities relating to a bulk line and the number of villages included in the project. In this case the water entities would be divided into groups according to those belonging to the bulk infrastructure and each of the villages. In the Quantities dialog a summary for the selected group can be viewed.
Another example would be to divide water entities according to a phased development. In this case, in addition to separating quantities, the system could also be hydraulically analysed for each phase separately.
